Mexico's expanding construction, mining, agriculture, and logistics sectors are generating increasing requirements for off-the-road (OTR) tires. These specialised tires are designed for heavy-duty vehicles operating across challenging surfaces, including sand, mud, gravel, and uneven terrain. Equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and road rollers relies on durable tires to maintain traction, support heavy loads, and operate efficiently. Rising infrastructure investments, industrial park development, agricultural mechanization, and port modernization are creating favourable opportunities for OTR tire manufacturers and distributors across the country.

A comprehensive study by Markntel Advisor reveals that the Mexico Off-the-Road Tire Market was valued at approximately USD 0.90 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 1.31 billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of 4.01% during 2025–2030. The Mexico OTR Tire market research report and forecast examines industry dynamics, pricing patterns, import-export trends, competitive developments, and emerging opportunities. The report identifies earthmoving equipment as the leading equipment segment, accounting for approximately 39% of the market, while radial tires hold more than 60% share. It also evaluates agricultural and material-handling equipment, OEM and aftermarket demand, tire sizes, sales channels, and price categories.

Construction Activities Strengthening Equipment Demand

Construction is a major contributor to OTR tire demand in Mexico. Investments in highways, railways, airports, residential developments, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities are encouraging the deployment of heavy machinery. Excavators, loaders, bulldozers, dumpers, and graders require specialised tires capable of handling demanding workloads and rough operating surfaces.

The development of private industrial parks is another important growth driver. New factories, warehouses, storage facilities, and distribution centres require extensive site preparation and construction activities, increasing the utilization of earthmoving machinery. Government infrastructure initiatives are also supporting the sector. The Mexican Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport outlines national infrastructure programmes covering roads, railways, airports, and related transportation projects. These developments create opportunities for suppliers serving construction equipment manufacturers and fleet operators.

Mining and Earthmoving Equipment Creating Opportunities

Mexico's mining industry is an important source of demand for heavy-duty tires. Mining activities involving gold, silver, and copper require machinery for excavation, material transportation, loading, and site development. Excavators, loaders, and bulldozers operate under demanding conditions, making tire durability, traction, and load-bearing capacity essential purchasing considerations.

The report highlights mining projects such as Torex Gold's Media Luna, Luca Mining's Tahuehueto, and Sonoro Gold's Cerro Caliche as developments supporting equipment requirements. Increasing machinery utilization can also accelerate tire wear, strengthening aftermarket demand as operators replace products to maintain operational continuity.

Earthmoving equipment consequently remains a significant application area, supported by construction and mining requirements across different regions of Mexico.

Agricultural Mechanization Supporting OEM and Replacement Demand

Agriculture represents another important source of OTR tire consumption. Mexico's agricultural production includes tomatoes, avocados, maize, and other crops, while its expanding agri-food export activities encourage investment in modern farming equipment.

Tractors, combines, and other agricultural machinery require specialized tires to operate across different soil conditions and support cultivation, harvesting, and transportation activities. The presence of major agricultural equipment manufacturers, including AGCO and John Deere, also contributes to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) demand.

At the same time, aftermarket purchases remain important because frequent equipment usage on rough terrain accelerates tire wear. Manufacturers offering durable products and dependable distribution can address the requirements of both equipment producers and replacement buyers.

Port Expansion and Industrialization Opportunities

Growing logistics and port activities are creating additional opportunities for OTR tire suppliers. Container handlers, forklifts, terminal tractors, straddle carriers, and other cargo-moving equipment require tires capable of supporting heavy loads and continuous industrial operations.

Mexico's strategic access to the Pacific and Atlantic shipping routes makes port infrastructure important to international trade. The government's national port infrastructure development initiatives include planned investments in the modernization and expansion of major ports. Such developments can increase demand for material-handling machinery and associated tire products.

The Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec also presents opportunities through industrial park construction, logistics facilities, and regional infrastructure development, particularly across southern Mexico.

Radial Technology and Industry Challenges

Radial tires account for more than 60% of the Mexican OTR tire industry. Their construction allows the tread and sidewall to function independently, supporting stability, heat management, fuel efficiency, and longer tread life. These characteristics make radial products attractive for machinery operating across mining, construction, and agricultural environments.

However, increasing adoption of tire retreading presents a challenge for manufacturers of new OTR tires. Retreading extends the service life of existing tire casings and offers cost advantages to equipment operators. This can reduce the frequency of new tire purchases and increase competitive pressure on suppliers.

The competitive landscape includes Pirelli, Continental, Yokohama, Michelin, Bridgestone Americas, Zhongce Rubber Group, Triangle Tire, Goodyear, CST, and Double Coin. Product innovation, manufacturing investments, distribution networks, and customer support remain important competitive factors.

Outlook

Mexico's OTR tire industry is expected to benefit from construction expansion, mining investments, agricultural mechanization, and port infrastructure development through 2030. Increasing equipment utilization and recurring replacement requirements will remain important demand drivers, while radial tire adoption and industrialization initiatives create additional opportunities. Manufacturers focusing on product durability, advanced tire technologies, efficient distribution, and competitive pricing will be well positioned to address the evolving requirements of Mexico's construction, mining, agricultural, and logistics sectors.
