Day Parties and Pool Parties in Marrakech: How to Choose the Right One

A Marrakech pool party is a different thing from a quiet hotel pool day. The big venues are open-air pool clubs with a stage, a DJ, sunbeds sold by reservation and a restaurant on site. Most sit along the Route de l'Ourika, a short drive south of the city (typically around 20 minutes). You go for the music and the crowd as much as for the water.

This guide compares two of the best-known pool clubs, explains how the pricing model works, and covers the season, dress and transport questions that decide whether the day goes well.

Day party or pool party: what is the difference?

The terms overlap. In practice, a pool party is a daytime event at a pool club, with DJs, sunbeds, food and drink and often a live show. A day party is broader: it can be a pool club, but it can also be a restaurant or club that runs a daytime programme before switching to a night format. Monte Cristo, for example, works as a restaurant by day and a club at night, which makes it a useful anchor for a day-to-night plan.

Pool parties in Marrakech: the main venues

Famous Beach

Famous Beach is the large-format option. It covers roughly 20,000 square metres on the Route de l'Ourika, with three pools (the central one heated), several jacuzzis, a solarium, a stage and daily pool parties with international DJs and performers. The on-site restaurant runs under the Nommos name, with a Mediterranean-leaning menu and Moroccan touches. It is loud, social and high-energy, so it suits groups, birthdays and hen or stag parties better than anyone wanting a quiet afternoon. A shuttle from central Marrakech has been offered, so ask about it when booking. Details are on our Famous Beach Marrakech page.

Café del Mar Marrakech

Café del Mar, at around kilometre 13 on the Route de l'Ourika, is the sleeker, more design-led choice: clean white lines, a central pool, tiered sunbeds, VIP cabanas (some with private jacuzzis) and DJ sets that lean towards lounge and house. It operates as a seasonal day club, typically from late morning to early evening, though hours change with the season. It works well for couples, smaller groups and celebrations that want a polished setting. Read what Café del Mar is famous for or go straight to the Café del Mar Marrakech page.

Monte Cristo, for a day-to-night plan

If you would rather not commute out of town, Monte Cristo runs as a restaurant during the day and a club at night. It is not a pool club, but it suits groups who want a long lunch that drifts into the evening. See the Monte Cristo page.

A private pool party at your villa

If your group has a villa with a pool, a private pool day is a real option. You control the music, the guest list and the schedule, and a villa chef can handle the food. Check the villa's house rules on music, visitors and events before you plan it, because noise limits and guest numbers vary. Browse our Marrakech villas or read our guide to choosing a villa.

How pricing works

Most Marrakech pool clubs sell space rather than tickets. You reserve a sunbed, daybed, cabana or jacuzzi zone, and the price is usually tied to a minimum spend on food and drink. The figures vary widely between venues, days of the week and times of year, and it is easy to compare the wrong numbers. Always ask what the minimum covers, how many people it allows, and whether it applies to food, drinks or both. Drinks are priced for a premium club, so budget accordingly. We can confirm current pricing when you enquire.

When to go

May to September is the core pool-party season, with the busiest weekends in the height of summer. July and August can be very hot, so plan for shade and water.

Spring and autumn are milder and quieter, with most seasonal clubs still running.

Winter pool parties are rare and weather-dependent.

Ramadan can change the calendar. Many venues close or run limited programming, so check dates before booking. It is expected to begin around early February 2027.

What to bring and how to get there

Swimwear (a swimsuit is required in the pool), high-factor sun cream, a hat and plenty of water.

A cover-up for the journey. Morocco is a conservative country, and it is more comfortable to arrive and leave dressed for the street.

Some cash for tips, your ID, and a waterproof pouch for your phone.

Return transport booked in advance. After several hours of sun and drinks, you will not want to negotiate a lift.

Common sense around water: avoid swimming after heavy drinking, and take shade breaks.

Turning it into a day-to-night plan

Marrakech makes it easy to move from pool to dinner to club. A typical day runs like this: pool club from around lunchtime until early evening, back to the villa to shower and change, dinner in Hivernage or Gueliz, then a night club. Our restaurant guide and nightlife guide help with the second half, and a spa session the next day helps with the recovery (villas and spas guide).

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to book a pool party in advance?

At weekends and in peak season, yes. Beds, cabanas and jacuzzi zones sell out first, and booking ahead gives you a better choice of position.

Can I go as a couple or on my own?

Yes, though the big party clubs are built around groups. Couples and small groups often find a sleeker venue such as Café del Mar more comfortable.

Are pool parties suitable for children?

Policies vary by venue and event, and many pool parties are adult-oriented. Check the venue's age policy before you book.

What should I wear?

Swimwear in the pool, with a cover-up for arriving and leaving. Some clubs describe their dress code as chic and relaxed.

Are day parties open all year?

Most pool clubs are seasonal, peaking from May to September. Opening dates change, so confirm before you travel.
