India’s automotive sector continues to expand across passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and commercial vehicles, creating a broad base for tire requirements. Vehicle production, domestic sales, transportation activity, and replacement needs collectively influence demand across the country. The automotive ecosystem produced more than 34.7 million vehicles in FY2025-26, according to the latest industry data, reflecting the scale of vehicle activity across major categories.

A comprehensive assessment by Markntel Advisor indicates that the India Tire Market is valued at USD 13.98 billion in 2026 and is projected to reach USD 22.28 billion by 2032, registering a CAGR of 8.08% during 2026–2032. The study uses 2025 as the base year and identifies Radial as the leading segment by tire type. The India Tire Market report covers the 2026–2032 forecast period and evaluates tire types across two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, medium and heavy commercial vehicles, and off-the-road vehicles.

Automotive Production Creates a Broad Demand Base

India’s large vehicle manufacturing ecosystem provides an important foundation for tire requirements. Passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and commercial vehicles each generate distinct requirements for original equipment and replacement tires.

The latest SIAM industry data shows that passenger vehicle production reached more than 5.5 million units in FY2025-26, while two-wheeler production exceeded 26.6 million units. Commercial vehicle and three-wheeler production also recorded substantial volumes, highlighting the diversity of vehicle applications requiring tires.

Radial Tires Lead the Product Segment

The report identifies Radial as the leading segment by tire type, alongside Bias tires. Radial construction is widely used across modern automotive applications and can provide characteristics relevant to durability, handling, rolling performance, and long-distance operation.

The broad adoption of radial tires across passenger and commercial applications reflects the changing requirements of India's automotive industry. Tire manufacturers must account for differences in vehicle weight, operating conditions, mileage, road surfaces, and intended usage when developing products for different categories.

Passenger Vehicles Strengthen Replacement Requirements

Passenger vehicles represent an important component of India's overall tire demand. Increasing vehicle ownership and continued sales create a growing installed base that requires periodic tire replacement throughout its operating life.

Passenger vehicle sales reached 4.64 million units in FY2025-26, representing growth of 7.9% over the previous financial year, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers. The organization also reported that passenger vehicle exports reached a record 905,200 units during the same period.

This expanding vehicle base can contribute to recurring replacement requirements as vehicles accumulate mileage and tires reach the end of their usable life.

Two-Wheeler Adoption Supports Tire Consumption

Two-wheelers remain central to India's personal and commercial mobility landscape. They are extensively used for commuting, last-mile transportation, delivery services, and other mobility requirements, creating a substantial installed base for tire manufacturers.

SIAM reported 21.71 million domestic two-wheeler sales in FY2025-26, representing 10.7% growth from the previous year. The segment also recorded more than 26.6 million units of production during the year.

The scale of two-wheeler usage supports recurring replacement demand, while different motorcycles, scooters, and other vehicles require products suited to their individual operating characteristics.

Commercial Vehicles Expand Industrial Requirements

Commercial vehicles represent another important application area because they support freight movement, logistics, construction, distribution, and other economic activities. Tire requirements in this category can vary according to vehicle size, load, mileage, road conditions, and operating schedules.

Domestic commercial vehicle sales reached 1.08 million units in FY2025-26, recording 12.6% growth, according to SIAM. (SIAM) The continued movement of goods across highways and regional transportation networks creates requirements for tires across light commercial vehicles as well as medium and heavy commercial vehicles.

Road Infrastructure Supports Mobility

India's continued investment in road and highway infrastructure also provides broader context for vehicle utilization. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' annual road infrastructure report covers road development, logistics infrastructure, highway construction, and road transport, highlighting the importance of transportation networks to the country's economic activity.

Improving connectivity between production centers, cities, ports, industrial areas, and consumption markets can support vehicle movement and transportation requirements. This creates demand across different vehicle categories and, consequently, across multiple tire applications.

Technology Influences Product Development

Automotive technology is also changing tire requirements. Manufacturers are developing products with greater attention to durability, efficiency, handling, noise characteristics, and suitability for evolving vehicle technologies.

The increasing presence of electric vehicles adds another consideration because electric powertrains can have different weight distribution and torque characteristics from conventional vehicles. As India's vehicle mix develops, tire manufacturers may need to adapt products to meet the requirements of emerging vehicle platforms.

Outlook Through 2032

The India Tire Market is projected to grow from USD 13.98 billion in 2026 to USD 22.28 billion by 2032, reflecting an 8.08% CAGR during the forecast period. Radial tires remain the leading tire-type segment, while the study covers two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger cars, LCVs, MHCVs, and off-the-road vehicles.

Strong vehicle production, rising domestic sales, commercial transportation activity, and recurring replacement requirements are expected to remain important factors shaping demand. India's expanding automotive ecosystem and continued development of transportation infrastructure provide a broad base for tire consumption across passenger, commercial, and specialized vehicle applications through 2032.
